COP 26 side event on “Transitioning to zero carbon mobility in our cities: linking transport to energy, climate and health”

This event is designed for panel discussions with policy makers, city representatives, industry experts and researchers to discuss clean transport adoption in cities as part of energy savings, climate mitigation and public health efforts. Different modes of zero-emission transport will be discussed, and several regions (Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America) will showcase best practice examples. The session will first explore the EU efforts and then move towards global best-practices.

COP26 – Finance flowing to accelerate Climate Action: Innovation and Partnership

Local and regional governments face important barriers in accessing finance such as the low capacity for developing bankable projects and the lack of information on financing instruments and opportunities. The session will give an insight on: (i) local government representatives from Europe, South America and Africa sharing their challenges to secure finance. (ii) financial institution representatives showcasing the instruments they offer.(iii) an exchange between the local governments and financial experts discussing how to improve collaboration and upscale action, allowing cities to accelerate their climate ambition.
